The Seattle-based label recently announced the signing of two new bands. Phantogram is a duo from rural NY that makes awesome beat-driven pop music. Their record is scheduled for release on 2/9/2010. Can’t wait.
Pearly Gate Music is a singer/songwriter from Seattle.
From the news release:
NEW SIGNING: PHANTOGRAM
Barsuk is excited to announce a new addition to the roster from Saratoga Springs, NY: Phantogram. Their album eyelid movies is part indie-rock, part beats-and-samples electronica, and part shoegaze; it's amazing, and it will be out February 9, 2010. The duo just toured this fall in the US with School of Seven Bells before heading to Europe, and will be doing a string of dates in North America with UK superstars Zero 7 next month.
Check the band's list of tour dates, or sign up to be notified when this album is available for pre-ordering.

NEW SIGNING: PEARLY GATE MUSIC
We're also giddy that Seattle's Pearly Gate Music has joined the family. Pearly Gate Music is an incredibly talented gentleman by the name of Zach (although it should be noted that he records and often plays shows with a full band), who makes beautiful, unusual, simple-yet-complicated songs structured around his extraordinary singing and melodic sense.
Pearly Gate Music's tremendous, confident, delicate debut full length will be out in 2010. Catch them or perhaps just him on the road with J. Tillman now (where you can pick up the self-released tour-only EP that's pictured here), and listen to some tunes on MySpace to get a little preview of what's to come.
