Polyvinyl Records has signed the Swedish band Love Is All. New album expected on March 23.
From the release:
As reported by Pitchfork (see 1/5 News Story), Love Is All has signed a worldwide deal with Polyvinyl Records.
The label will release the band's third album, Two Thousand And Ten Injuries, on March 23 on CD, LP w/ download (in three versions): 180 gram black vinyl; 180 gram white vinyl - limited to 500; 180 gram yellow vinyl - limited to 500 for Europe. Two Thousand... is the follow up to the band's two critically acclaimed albums, A Hundred Things Keep Me Up At Night and Nine Times That Same Song. Two Thousand ...was produced, recorded and mixed at the band's studio, Bananaflux in Gothenburg, Sweden during the summer of 2009 by Love is All and Wyatt Cusick. To celebrate the union, Polyvinyl is offering a free download of the album's lead single, "Kungen" (available at Pitchfork as well). There will be a major tour announcement soon.
The inspiration for Two Thousand And Ten Injuries lies within the early stages of the album's creative process. At the end of spring 2009, the band had completed an exhaustive US & European touring cycle behind its second album, A Hundred Things... and subsequent EP, Last Choice. They had also wrapped up their collaboration with long-time label, What's Your Rupture? The band welcomed their new found freedom and took time to explore any and all ideas-writing, recording and finishing the album without any expectations-or label. Once the album was complete (all the way down to the artwork-courtesy of the band's own Josephine Olausson) Love Is All paired up with Polyvinyl for the release.
Two Thousand And Ten Injuries is an invigorating set of 12 songs--maintaining the urgency found on earlier albums and expanding upon the band's strong pop sensibilities, both lyrically and musically. It is not only Love Is All's most adventurous, but also it's most accessible album to date.
Suggested tracks include standouts "Kungen," "Bigger Bolder," "Repetition," "Less Than Thrilled," and "Never Now."
