In the studio: Bob Mould Readies New Album

How cool is this? We get another Bob Mould record just a year after the last one!

From the Anti records site: 20 years after his first lauded solo album Workbook and 30 years since the formation of Husker Du, Bob Mould is releasing a new record on April 7th. Arguably one of the most influential musicians of the alternative rock era — first for his early work with the aforementioned post-punk rabble-rousers Husker Du, followed by the college-rock-defining pop of Sugar and finally for his solo albums, which range from the quieted ire of Workbook to the electronic experimentation of Modulator – Bob Mould is marking anniversaries with a record filled with his relations to friends, the world at large and himself. It is honest and personal, his voice breaking on “Bad Blood Better,” the electronic twitches of earlier work reappearing under signature blazing guitars on”MM17.” Mould appraises the perils of easy self-distraction on “Wasted World” and is not afraid to get explicit on “Argos.” The emotional and musical centerpiece of the record, “I’m Sorry Baby, But You Can’t Stand In My Light Anymore,” is an unflinching look at the sorrow and regret that comes at the end of love.

A follow up to 2008’s lauded District Line Bob Mould’s yet-untitled new release highlights an artist completing a circle decades in the making, his talent undiminished, his perspective revitalized.

Tracklisting:

1. Life And Times
2. The Breach
3. City Lights (Days Go By)
4. MM 17
5. Argos
6. Bad Blood Better
7. Wasted World
8. Spiraling Down
9. I’m Sorry, Baby, But You Can’t Stand In My Light Any More
10. Lifetime

Bumblebeez unleash a flury of creativity

From the press release:
Week Two of 30/30: Bumblebeez meet the Jazz Wizard...
http://thebumblebeez.com/

See more mindbending, surreal and superb antics / experiments by the "beez" in Braidwood, Australia from this day forth - be prepared for many-a-weird n'warped experiences courtesy of BBZ wizkid Chris Colonna.

Only The Bumblebeez would be prolific, inventive and stupid enough to set themselves the challenge of writing and releasing 30 new songs in 30 days, and this December that ís exactly what they're going to do.

The Bumblebeez main brain Chris Colonna AKA Invisibl AKA Prince Umberto, with the assistance of his sister Pia AKA ViLa and no doubt a ragtag bunch of Braidwoods best, will attempt to write from scratch and record a brand new jam for every day of this month, the fruits of which will be documented and made available daily for download.

PRINCE UMBERTO & THE SISTER OF ILL (modular)

True to form for the band that last year released the dazzling eclectica debut album Prince Umberto & The Sister Of Ill, expect everything from raw punk rock rippers, to hobo house, to lo-fi campfire folk, to some straight up G-funk, and everything in between. After spending the last 2 months with Adelaide hippy rockers Wolf And Cub camped in his kitchen while he produced their forthcoming album, Colonna has a head full of his own ideas that he's keen to rinse from his system, and it's just as well he was given the task at hand.

From December 1st, add http://thebumblebeez.com/ to your list of daily links/procrastinations, and expect all manner of entertainment in the form of streaming video, mp3 downloads, art installations, yard sales, cattle herding, situational comedy and more, as one of Australia's most brilliantly inventive acts throws open the doors and throws down the gauntlet to make 30 in 30.

Below is the first piece of a series of three clips that make up a gorgeous/adorable/engaging behind-the-scenes look at the making of Rachael Yamagata's forthcoming album: A Record in Two Parts: Elephants...Teeth Sinking into Heart (out October 7 on Warner Bros.)

The piece was shot at Allaire Studios just outside of Woodstock where most of the record was made.  It was directed by Peter Harding and Colin Gill of The Nova Project.
