I just finishing watching this TED Talk in which Sir Ken Robinson discusses [rather entertainingly] the importance to move from a education model that crushes creativity.
When I was in elementary school I remember coming to a realization that school was about being right. Even though I was involved in art and music programs I sometimes felt that even those classes were all about getting the right answer. One of the things that fascinates me is how some people have gone on to fully creative careers both in business and in the arts despite an education model [and to a certain extent, a culture] that crushes creativity. I know for a lot of these folks, the path was hard and continues to be difficult – but it is their passion. They are the dreamers and the problem solvers. I agree that now, more than ever, we need to allow our kids to embrace and “practice” being creative. It shouldn’t be so hard.
Dirty Laundry is one of my favorite places for artist interviews. I think it’s really well done and the format captures a unique perspective on new and established artists.
The deluxe version of the debut album "Fever Ray" was released on November 24th. Fever Ray recently premiered a new video for "Keep The Streets Empty For Me" on Pitchfork. The video was directed by Jens Klevje & Fabian Svensson, and features Japanese performance artist/architect Megumi Matsubara as the main character and Camilla Jernmark as the homeless girl.
